Weekly Notices, Term 4, Week 10

 Welcome to the last week of the 2020 school year. Only 12 days to Christmas (I can feel a song coming on). Thank you to all the children for the hard work they have put in this year to improve their learning and thank you for all of the hard work parents and caregivers have put in with their children at home, and helping out at school when required.

School finishes for the year at Midday on Wednesday.

Kahikatea Big Day In

This Tuesday we are having out Middle School - Kahikatea Big Day In, our end of year fun celebration. Children come to school in their uniform for prizegiving.

Children need to bring:

• mufti in their school bags, to get changed into at morning tea
• togs, towel, hat and sunscreen
• gold coin donation - PLEASE BRING MONDAY
• labelled water gun

On Tuesday morning, in the first block, St Mary's will have the end of year prizegiving for all classes. The Kahikatea Big Day In will happen after the prizegiving has finished. It is therefore important that children come to school in their uniforms as normal with mufti in their bags. Children will get changed into their mufti at morning tea. We will be organising a fish and chips lunch for the children and so we ask if all children could bring a gold coin on MONDAY so we can order the lunch for Tuesday.

What your child needs:

Signs will be put out on the day letting you know where each class is to put their bikes / scooters.

You may like to put something on your child's bike to help them identify it when they come into transition.

We are publishing a school magazine again this year and this will be available during the last week of this term. At this stage there will only be 100 magazines printed. It will be a great memento of 2020. We sold out last year. Orders are being taken now with the cost for the magazine being $10.00.

Iceblock Sales: Monday and Tuesday to raise funds for a family in our school who has recently lost a close family member.

Holiday Reading Information is being sent home this week. Children can immediately start entering the books they are reading or books that have been read to them.

For all sports, except Netball and Basketball, you will be required to buy your own shirts for the 2021 season. PE shirts can also be purchased from our School’s Uniform Shop.

Lost and Found - the pile is still growing again outside Room 6 please if you are missing jerseys, or anything check there.

We are collecting goods to put in Christmas Hampers for needy families and also food items we can donate to St Vincent de Paul’s Foodbank. If you have food items you can donate please get your child to bring them to class or they can put them under the tree in the foyer.

Kia ora and welcome to week 9!

We have more tickets for all our Peter Pan Shows. Tickets can be bought from the School Office for $5.00. 

Opening day for our school musical is Tuesday, very exciting. There has been a lot of behind the scenes work being done. Thanks to our awesome support staff who have been doing a heck of a lot of things in preparation for this show Below is the schedule for the School Production for this week.

Then head to Kakano.  Middle girls go to Room 6 and middle boys to Room 7  to get changed and then go to Kakano.  All juniors go straight to Kakano and get changed in Kakano. Show estimated to finish at 7:50pm pick up your child from Kakano from  8:00pm All students must be collected after the show from Kakano.  Parents and caregivers please be prompt to collect your child/ren. For daytime performances Students will dress in their buddy classes (girls and boys  separate classes) and then will come over together with their Teacher to Kakano, to wait for their stage performance.

School Production - Week 9 (Next Week)

Room 16 is part of Group B performing our class dance next week for the School Production on Wednesday. We will be performing at the matinee during the day and again in the evening. Room 17 will be doing the Tuesday shows. There are still a few children who have not brought in their costume for the dance. We are asking parents or caregivers to supply either a Pacific Island lavalava or similar flowery type clothing to go with the theme of the dance. Please can we have these as soon as possible in a bag marked with your child's name?

Week 8 Notices

 Kia ora and welcome to week 8!

Advent begins this week and our Christmas countdown is on! The next few weeks are action-packed with lots going on. Please keep checking the blog for changes that might be happening over the week. It is also important for our tamariki to be getting plenty of sleep and bringing good brain food to school each day to ensure they have enough energy. We will be trying to keep our programmes as consistent as possible, but will also be needing to be flexible to fit in things that may pop up each day. We thank you for your support over this time.

Peter Pan Costumes:

It is CRUCIAL that these are brought to school by WEDNESDAY this week. We have a dress rehearsal on Thursday so we need all of our costumes as soon as possible please.

IMPORTANT

• Chromebooks are being used every day and need to be fully charged after each day.

• Lost and Found - the pile is growing again outside Room 6 please if you are missing jerseys, or anything check there.

• SWIMMING this week- bring togs, towel and goggles every day.

• Sunhats must be worn or no play

Swimming this week

We will be returning to our normal class swimming this week. Please bring your togs and a towel. The pool is heated, and we need to be using it in order to warrant having it. Children are expected to swim unless they have a note from home. 

Ahurei

Congratulations to all the children performing on Monday night, you have put in a lot of time and effort. Also a big thanks to Koro Tini, our Kapa haka tutor and Sylvia who have both done a great job preparing our students for their performance. 

Library

The library is now closed for stocktake. All children should have taken home 5 books last week to help assist with their reading over the summer break. It is vital to the continued success that children are reading every day or being read to. The town library can be accessed and membership for Rotorua citizens is free.

Chess

Good luck to the Chess team participating in an Australian Chess Tournament on Monday and Tuesday.

Advent Liturgy

On Tuesday we have our Advent Liturgy at 12.15pm in the church. Kakano is hosting this.

School Magazine
